Sharing Expertise with Other School Districts
ACES and Daisy established ACES UP, a program that offers technical assistance to school districts to apply for grants and other incentives to purchase electric school buses and install charging stations at schools and municipal locations throughout the state.
A Network of Dedicated EV Charging Stations
In addition to technical assistance, ACES UP is developing a network of school-based EV charging stations dedicated to the needs of current and future electric school transportation, exclusively through Daisy Solutions.
The program designs and installs EV charging infrastructure at school locations, and networks those chargers to enable preferred reservations for members of the ACES UP Network. While still available to the public through a credit card, the ACES Up Network eliminates the potential for range anxiety when transporting students out of district using EV transportation.
Best of all, Daisy Solutions manages the entire installation, from grants and incentive applications for grants and incentives, to design and installation, all at no out-of-pocket cost to the host.
Added Benefits of Solar, Battery Storage, and Demand Charge Management
Depending on the location, the host of the charging station may want to offset electricity costs by installing solar and battery storage at the charger location. These applications complete the green cycle of using generating and storing electricity from renewable sources to charge the chargers. In addition, when not in active use, the batteries on EV school buses can supply power back to onsite buildings to defray high demand charges during peak power events, saving money for the host and supporting the local grid.
